CLASS INFORMATION

We teach both Leatherworking and Blacksmithing Classes on our Farm near Winfield AB. Jeff is a wonderful teacher and all students leave with lots of new skills, beautiful gear and sense of accomplishment.
Currently we book monthly blacksmithing classes, but can always book extra leatherwork and forge work classes on demand. Get a group of 3-5 students together and we are happy to accommodate at a time that works for you.  Please see below for a description of each class we offer.
Classes are taught in our forge right on the farm and safety and fun are our top priorities. We want people to experience traditional forge work and leave proud of their pieces. In our careers and on our homeschool journey, we have seen the immense value in learning life skills, traditional and often forgotten methods of working/creating and living with resources we have available locally.
As a homeschooling family, We are really interested in getting families and teenagers into the art, so we hold small classes to accommodate younger teens than most other forges allow. Generally we are 12+, but we also do parent-child classes so parents can learn along side their younger children, who are interested.
We can offer camping and have other great accommodations close by, depending on the season, so please let us know if you need need help booking this. For summer camping we are within 10 min of pigeon lake provincial park, Zeiner campground, and Twin lakes. All have great beaches and water access for boating and kayaking. Hidden Springs guest house is 5 min away and has amazing cross country skiing in the winter. The Inn at village of pigeon lake is 20 min away and a great place to stay.

We loved the blacksmithing / knife making course! Krista was great to coordinate with, and Jeff a true mentor to our kids. He demonstrated patience and professional expertise while giving participants space to be both challenged and satisfied with their work. Highly recommend!!

The Oro Family
Jeff is a great teacher and very talented. He was patient and encouraging and fun to be around. The class is a relaxed atmosphere while being a challenge. The kids were so proud of their knives. We loved the class and can't wait to do another!
Russ Finlay
I have wanted to learn to make knives for years. Jeff took me on. We started with a chunk of bearing race....a lost and wasted piece of metal. With heat and pressure Jeff helped me turn it into a very useable knife. He's a skilled teacher. Thanks Jeff!
